Virtual Drumline Diddles

Okay, so im using VDL 2.5 on Finale 2010 and im having play back issues with diddles. Say for instance, I want a 9 stroke OPEN roll or i'm writing an open roll warm up or exercise, but when I put in four 16th notes with diddle slash marks, it doesn't sound right when it plays back.. to be honest it sounds like ripping paper or a really bad buzz role. I know there is a way to fix this but i don't know how.. please help!
