Finale will not play repeated notes within the same measure
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
Regardless of instruments, Finale will consistently not play repeated notes in a measure. This behavior started at random a few months ago. Ugh, I can't stand the lack of fit and finish on this product... It's worse than Printmusic 09/11, which is what I worked on before I "upgraded"...
This is an issue that I just can't cope with any more. I haven't found anything written online about this issue, either.
Help? Anyone?

Welcome to the forum!
If I understand you correctly, you have multiple notes of the same pitch in the same measure (e. g. two half notes ‘a’ in a 4/4 measure), and Finale only plays one note ‘a’, right?
If - On The Other Hand - the notes are not in the same measure (e. g. half rest, half note, barline, half note, half rest), then Finale plays both notes, right?
And this problem happens in all your documents, right?
As a test, try the attached document (you must un-zip it first).
Does the attached document play two notes - or only one note - in your copy of Finale 2014?

It would help if you could attach a document for us to examine.
Before you can attach a document, you must compress it, and it must be less than 100 Kb.

I agree with Mike.
It definitely sounds like the problem is document specific.
We need to see an actual Finale document from you.
This forum does not accept attachments with the Finale file name extension.
As Mike points out:

And the file size must not be more than max. 100 KB.

Alright, here's what I have. Also, it ought to be noted that some instruments (such as piano) will play truncated versions of repeated notes, although they're so truncated that they barely register a tone, and sound incredibly digitized, almost like a hiccup. Play around with the instrumentation in the attached file and see for yourself...

ajjyt,
In the document you posted (= “I Know”), you have Finale playing back through Audio Units (MIDI/Audio menu > Play Finale Through Audio Units).
But in the document I posted (= “RepeatedNotes”), I have Finale playing back through MIDI (MIDI/Audio menu > Play Finale Through MIDI).
And you told in a previous post that my document plays repeated notes for you.
What happens If you, in your own document (= “I Know”), select “Play Finale Through MIDI”?
Will it then play repeated notes?

Hi Peter,
It will play the repeated notes if I switch to playback through MIDI. However, when I did that, my percussion maps got changed around, and the sounds were very obviously not the Garrison sounds I was used to. When I re-assigned playback sounds, it went back to its old habits of not playing repeated notes, although it was still playing through MIDI.

Hi ajjyt,
Now that we have established your playback problem is isolated to Audio Units, I think that it is time for you to contact the folks in Tech Support at MakeMusic.
They know a lot about hardware related issues, and it is possible that your problem is hardware related.
One thing more that you could try:
Re-install the Garritan Instruments.
