Crashing after audio export

Twice now, with different files, Finale 25.2 has crashed immediately after I export a file to audio (File > Export > Audio File). The audio export does finish, and it sounds complete and OK, but Finale crashes immediately after the export completes. Anyone else experience this problem?

Then to create an audio file, do you play a file back and capture it in Audacity? Just curious.

No, I only use playback to check for errors.

The crashes seem to occur when playback finishes, but I've never really discerned a pattern.

I exported to audio again this afternoon, and this time I deleted the Finale temp files in my designated folder before exporting, and Finale did not crash. I wonder if that's the key, at least for my setup.

Well, so much for that. I deleted the temp files and exported again, and Finale crashed again immediately after the export completed.

Yeah, I think I'll do that. The problem, though, doesn't happen with every export to audio, and I can't identify anything that precipitates the crash.

2. What is the Audio Driver?

3. Have you experimented with recreating preferences (both files) after saving a backup?

Audio driver is DirectSound.

No, I haven't experimented with recreating preferences. Do you mean deleting FINALE.INI and FINMIDI.INI files (after backing them up)?

Yes. Sometimes corruption there can cause issues. I would try the MIDI.ini file first. If that works, it will minimize issues. Do you have a MIDI keyboard hooked up to your computer?

When I said minimize issues, I meant having to redo preferences saved in the main file, which generally takes longer to customize. I guess I wasn't too clear. Anyway, let us know what happens.

I renamed and then removed finmidi.ini from its usual place, and I've exported several files to audio without Finale crashing. So far, so good.
