Attached is a snippet that's just not playing back correctly with HP. The trill is starting on the eighth note before the trill indication. Even when I change the last eighth note before the trill to a 16th note and 16th rest, I get the same result. I've tried removing the slur, to no effect. I've also tried shortening the eighth-note duration to varying lengths with the midi tool, which also doesn't work. How do I get the trill to play back correctly in HP?

Use the tr articulation instead. You don't need a wavy line for a short note.

Oops. Typo corrected. I'll test that when I'm at the computer. Thanks, Motet.

Human Playback has had many problems with Trills. Too bad. I wish there were more options of programmability with HP. It leaves so much up to the whims of whatever paradigm is hiding behind the curtain.

Anyway, this Troll is working, nonetheless.

My main gripe with HP is phrasing. I'm not sure HP can be programmed to recognize it because it's so subjective--sure, you want woodwind and brass playback to be "natural" with simulated breathing in appropriate places, but interpretation varies in the subtle lengths of pauses. I currently use breath marks, which I adapt to various percentages, and the midi tool to alter note durations. But that's incredibly time-consuming, even though the results are far more realistic than anything HP could produce alone. I don't use a DAW.

I fixed the "trill" typo where I could. Anyway, glad to see I didn't inadvertently trim the troll's trilling.
