Why does 2014.5 randomly transpose an instrument on playback? I periodically have this problem. For example all notes are entered correctly for a cello. No transposition. sounds will playback as written and then inexplicably will be transposed off a semitone. I've tried turning human playback on and off. Sometimes seems to straighten it out. Play with pitch bend wheel, sometimes resets it. But other times it just won't give. Anyone else have this problem?

Well I don't know if this is an issue that is isolated to me but I guess I have found a workaround. Selecting "Reassign the Playback Sounds" seems to fix it although it periodically comes back. It happens with two different usb keyboards by the way.

Next time you might try clearing MIDI continuous data (Edit->Clear Selected Items). This will get rid of any unwanted pitch bending stored in the file.

If you have a file we can examine, post it here for us to test. Sometimes an extra set of eyes (or in this case ears) can sometimes find something we fail to see.

I started a sketch of a simple tune I heard on Tokyo news. First sketched using pianos. I added an electric guitar, drums, etc. The guitar played back correctly at first, but now it plays back 1/2 step (more or less) low.

I've not tried troubleshooting this yet, although I have read about the problem in the earlier forum. But I thought I'd post it here in case anyone has a solution -- it would probably save me some time.

I have all versions of Finale since 1997 and have made far more complex scores and recordings than this one and have not experienced this problem before. The current problem is with version 2014.5.6359.

Note After posting this I started troubleshooting the transposition problem. MIDI/Audio > Reassign Playback Sounds. Problem seems to be solved. During my 20 years of using Finale I have never had to do this. Problem "solved" but I don't know why I had the problem. So, it's still something of a mystery to me.
