I'm using Finale 2014 are these sounds available?
I found break drum listed as an instrument but when I added it to the score as I moved across the staff it was never listed as a sound choice.
I haven't found a listing for a siren.
Thanks!

you have to look at the sample list that comes with whatever sample library you are using.
break drums and sirens are usually in percussion, so the first place to look is there.
if you are using Garritan Instruments for Finale (the free bundled sample library that comes with Finale) you have to be aware that it is mostly a sampler of what is available in the various Garritan libraries, so it may not actually contain some of the more esoteric sounds out there. You might find that you need to splurge and buy some other sample library that contains those sounds.
Finale lists almost ALL instruments, even those that do not have samples assigned to them, because sometimes we use an instrument in a score without the expectation of proper playback. Much in the same way as you could make a marking that says "violins, bow with the wood on the string" and not expect playback since none of the Garritan libraries contain this particular sample.

I downloaded an anvil sound some years ago at http://www.freesound.org/browse. You might see if there's something there you can use.
