trills

Since my upgrade to Finale 25.3, I'm noticing that trills are not beginning at the right time. (They're starting earlier than the note to which they are attached).

Is this a known issue, or unique to me? Is there any way to control where a trill starts other than adjusting the attachment note (I can't get these to start in the right place, even if I move them forward... - then they start too late).

If you are using Human Playback, there are settings that determine trill playback. Preferences has global settings. Then, the HP definition has influence as well, and is saved with the document.

Have you played with either of those settings?

Unless I'm looking in wrong spot, only real choice seems to be whether or not to humanize trills. It makes no difference whether I do or I don't.

Just Standard.

You can experiment with trying other styles, or choose Custom and try unchecking boxes or adjusting sliders to see if anything helps. Or, attach a file that displays the errant behavior here so we can test it for solutions.

Ok. I'm uploading an example. In these two bars, all of the trills start early. You can't really hear it so clearly with the first one on the F# in the r.h., since the figure before is so fast. But in the l.h., the trill starts on the C# (not the B, to which it is attached), and in the r.h., next measure, the trill starts on the E (preceding the F#, to which it is attached).

Curious to see if this duplicates on other systems, and if this is fixable. I've tried a bunch of HP styles, and none solves this.

I'm not sure of the cause of the problem. I'm guessing it is related to known issues with the Smart Shape trill, possibly confused by other factors.

I was able to "cure" the problem by using Articulation trills instead. I had to enter a trill sign on each tied note and then hide those. I added the trill extension as an articulation as well. That doesn't affect playback, thus the hidden trill articulations to continue past the tie.
