Windows 7, Finale 2014.5

I've been back and forth on and off for four months with MM on this issue, but still no luck, so thought I'd try here. Brush drums won't play back, despite countless steps dictated by MM, including a full reinstallation.

I can't figure out what else I might be doing wrong, and they don't seem to be able to either.

A reinstall shouldn't be needed. The problem appears to be that you are trying to get a brush sound from GIfF. Are you using that, or the full GPO?

What's GIfF? How would I determine that? I'm using whatever comes default with the program. It used (2011?) to include a much easier to access brush drum playback.

Though I am just noticing that despite all the steps MM had me go through, in Score Manager the device for the drums was set to Aria. I've changed it to Garritan and doublechecked the percussion map in both MIDI and score manager, but still no luck. Updated document attached.

GIfF is Garritan Instruments for Finale. I'm surprised MakeMusic didn't inform you that the Brush set they include doesn't have a Snare Drum brush sound. Strange.

Anyway, change to SmartMusic SoftSynth and you'll get a brush.

Zuill, neither SmartSynth's sound bank nor Percussion map in the Score Manager offer any brush drum options. What I'm now getting is something that sounds like bad sandpaper, a lot worse than the Brush Drum playbacks than earlier versions of the program offered.

I revised your file to get the SmartMusic brush sound. This is the Brush Hit, not the Brush Stir. Maybe that is what you want instead. I'm not sure that is available in the SoftSynth.
