Playback - where to start

Hello! Just upgraded from Finale PrintMusic to Finale 25.4 latest version Windows 10. The Playback Controls in Finale 25.4 appear to be hosed. I've read forum/tips/hints/ instructions about clicking on little speaker icon and "start from left" or "start from ... wherever" I've tried all of it -- yet Finale appears to randomly choose where the playback starts from. EXCEPT if I have it start from position 1 -- it seems to do that consistently. The area where (in Finale PrintMusic) I could enter the measure number, is greyed out in Finale 25.4. CRAZY Is there a fix for this? It seems like pretty basic functionality for this type of software.

Have you opened out the Playback dialogue? If not, click on the little arrow high on the left. This is how it looks for me in F 25.4 (see screenshot).

The Windows version has a different look, but that is where things are set.

Are you using the buttons on the Playback window, are stopping and starting with the spacebar? You need to use the buttons. If you use the spacebar, that is essentially a "pause", rather than a true "stop."

Spacebar in Win is different than Mac.

This is set at "Always Start at Left Most Measure" No matter where I am in the piece, every time I click on PLAY (the round button or the up and down slashes (BTW both buttons hover "play") it goes back to the beginning of the piece. I can't manually put in a marker because (notice) it's greyed out disabled. Fast Forward and Rewind are also greyed out disabled.

I have a friend who had the same issue, with a couple of the palettes showing the wrong “tip” when hovering over a button. IIRC, it was a resolution issue.

I fodn’t remember the details, but they told her how to change the resolution to eliminate that problem.
