Finale 25 trasposition oddity

Did a quick search, and didn't find another posting on this...

I have an orchestral score and every instrument is playing back as it should. Loving the fact that transposing instruments now play the correct pitches on entry. HOWEVER, using Human Playback, the instant the Horn part plays a note that Finale thinks is out of range (it's not) the horns now sound a major third lower than written. If I close the file and reopen, everything plays fine again until we reach that one note.

This is a real head-scratcher, and one I've never seen before in nearly 30 years of using the software.

Must be something like an unwanted Instrument change or an errant Pitch bend.

None of those (intentionally) in the score. And it only occurs once the "out of range" note is played. I do have glisses leading to each, but the others work fine when I remove that one note. And that one note is at the end of the phrase.

Glisses use pitch bend, so possibly it is sticking. Try deleting the glisses and see what happens. Also, out of range notes generally don't play with Garritan samples, as the out of range notes are not included in the sample. So, are you using SoftSynth, or a different sample set?

Here's a link to the file if you're interested...

The offending passage is in measures 33-35 in the horns. Remove the last note, save and reopen, and everything works. Play it once with the note, and the odd transposition occurs.

When I go to play it, it says I have an old version of the Aria player, but if I switch to MIDI playback, I don't experience the problem. So perhaps it's the Aria player?

I tried it with range check set to Intermidiate and set to off and it didn't seem to make a difference.

Taking out the last gliss solves the transposition problem, but now I don't have the gliss.

I created a hidden expression with gliss set to 0 for playback at that measure and it seems to cure the stuck gliss problem.

I'll try that. Thanks!
