The tempo button appears to have gone on v25.
How are people generally changing tempo for playback?
I am playing through Garritan on my local mac rather than through MIDI.
Any help gratefully received.
Thanks,
Andy

The tempo tool has been removed, to the displeasure of many. Use expressions to change the tempo.

No, they should go until change them. If they don’t stick, try clearing MIDI data, and try again.

Select the score, and right click on a staff. From the dropdown, Clear Selected Items... and choose MIDI data.

Thanks for these infoes Dear Mike!

Yeah, but try entering a tempo mark such as 108.86...

In the expressions menu fractional values are summarily deleted and approximated, which is a sizeless absurdity for those who work with Film Scoring. With the previous Tempo Tool menu, this operation was incredibly easy, which does not happen now. Note that these operations are absolutely far less laborious in Overture, Notion and even Dorico softwares. And please, note that there are MIDI parameters that can not be edited collectively using MIDI Tool (an old and visually outdated menu where the user needs to make several clicks and open multiple windows to be able to do any editing of MIDI data, which makes the task quite exhaustive due to numerous clicks on submenus, since you can't edit MIDI data directly in the score and you don't see a reliable representation of the result directly on the score, as in softwares like Overture, Notion and Dorico.

What I do is open my files in Finale 2014.5, enter the desired value via Tempo Tool and then, I go back to working on the document in version 25.4.1.152. This has helped me gain a lot of time.

Once again, another step back, what is a holy freakin crap!

But thanks anyway Mike!

tempo changes do not need to be done on each individual staff.
a tempo change on one staff affects ALL staves.

Hello there Michael!
Yes indeed what you said is true.
But this works for tempo changes. For creating crescendos, for example, each addition using MIDI Tool menu needs to be done individually, which consumes a huge amount of time!

I made the correction in my comment. Thank you for sharing this information.

for crescendos use hairpins and dynamic expressions.
again, there's no need to go into a MIDI tool for that.

It's true that a crescendo must be applied to all staves--there is no "global" crescendo. But that's the way musical notation works.

Check out the MIDI tool. You might be able to do with that what you used to do with the Tempo tool. Read the manual before jumping to any conclusions.
