I am busy setting up a new computer (Dell XPS8910) and solving teething troubles one by one.

The latest error is that WMP plays .MP3 files just fine unless Finale 25 is open. Then I get a "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing this file" error. If I close Finale, the file plays correctly.

I realise it could be one (or more) of a myriad of things: codecs, sound card driver, VST plug-ins, PEBKAC, and so on.

Before I start messing with things I don't understand has anyone any advice for me?

Thanks in advance.

Tim

I had to go into MIDI/audio and switch the audio driver to DirectSound instead of ASIO to get things to cooperate on my computer.
A composer is a guy who goes around forcing his will on unsuspecting air molecules... often with the aid of unsuspecting musicians - Frank Zappa
