Last Notes End Abruptly

The last notes of my Finale files always cut off abruptly at the end of playback. Is there a way to soften the endings of final notes?

The suggested answer is to add a tied note, like a 128th note, after the last note. However, I've found that it cuts that one off too, so it only helps a little bit. I put a decrescendo in that rapidly drops to pppp by the next beat. The expressions after the note help ease the cutoff as well as tell Finale to keep rendering playback until the measure is over rather than cutting it short.
