Saving

I'm not sure if this is a problem with Finale or a problem with Windows, but help if you can.
I recently installed Finale 2010 on my laptop and transferred my old files onto it. However, I cannot save any changes to these files: I have to save them as new files. When I do so, (or when I create actually new files) a padlock image is superimposed on the file icon and I have a great deal of trouble trying to transfer these files anywhere. I would appreciate any explanations and/or instructions on how to fiz this problem.
