Hi,
i have installed my 2012a version of Finale on my mac(10.6.8).it works ok but somehow the fonts
for the rests and the the half notes are incorrect(letters appearing).I have search through the forum for answers and
i installed the: clearfontcache application wich suppose to correct the problem but nothing.
So what else can i do?I search through the forum but i found nothing relatively..

Thanks in advance for your answer and the good support that you offer

Panagiotis.

Welcome to the forum!

Things to try:

1) Do the font characters show up in other programs - e. g. in word processors?

If they do show up in other programs, then the culprit is located in the Finale files.
Take a look at your templates/documents, the settings in Document Options - Notes & Rests.

If they do not show up in other programs either, then the culprit is located in the font files.
What can you see in FontBook? Troubled fonts?
A re-install of the fonts might be the cure.

2) If everything else fails, then it is time to try Tech Support at MakeMusic.

I had the same problem. After much search on the net I found out that Finale works with Roman keyboard layout instead of Unicode which means that it works fine when you have an English operating system (in English Unicode and Roman matches). I changed the language on my mac and works fine. Or you can try create another account on your machine and switch this to English for use of Finale.

Hope I helped!
