Hello,

I am trying to find a setting that will allow my accidental changes (i.e. #s and bs), to carry through to all layers.

In other words I want a change to Bb in the C of C to carry through to layers 2,3 and 4 in that measure if I change layer 1.

I would like this set as default.

Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Andy

AFAIK, there is no way to do this. Many of us have requested it, for many versions: a choice between "divisi" accidentals, and "piano" accidentals.

All you can do is to send in your own feature request. Maybe, someday, they will listen.

There is a powerful plug-in by Jari Williamsson, JW Accidentals, which offers many functions concerning courtesy accidentals.
I have not played with it, so I can't say much more. Maybe worth investigating.

That could be worth looking into. Its such an obvious need - I had just assumed the software would pick it up but someone pointed out to me yesterday that one of my transcriptions had too many accidentals in a measure and I can't seem to change it for love nor money. How does one come by that plug in, do we know? Does it work for windows or just mac?

Thanks,
Andy

There is a Windows version and a Mac version, requiring at least Finale 2010. It seems impossible to post an URL on this forum, but look for finale tips in Google, and you'll find it in the Download Section.
There are many other fantastic plug-ins by Jari Williamsson : JW Change is an absolute must, JW Staff Polyphony, JW Pattern, etc...

The forum does not allow for a clickable hyperlink, but it is possible to post a non-clickable web address that can be copy/pasted into a web browser’s address field (remove the initial ‘www’):

Of course, to make this work you must select the reply option “Do not automatically parse URLs”.
By default, the option “Do not automatically parse URLs” is de-selected, probably in order to avoid spam posts created by (mindless) spam bots.
