Playback malfunctioning

When I press play for the playback, I hear the program playing the notes back, but the green cursor that follows the notes isn't there nor does the document move with what's being played. This makes it impossible to watch more than a few measures of what has been written. I'm using Finale 2012 on Windows 8.

Take a look at the Playback Controls.
You can expand the Playback Controls window by clicking the little icon.
Is the option “Scrolling Playback” selected?

I am getting the same problem, but only on my laptop. I am using Printmusic 2011.
I tried finding the playback controls, but the only options are to add or remove them from the window, no options to edit them.
Please, any solutions would be greatly appreciated.
