I updated my Mac OS from Mountain Lion to Yosemite. Now my Finale 2014 won't open. I installed and was running Finale 2014 fine on another new computer that already came with Yosemite.

Welcome to the forum!

Please specify the steps you've already taken, so that we can rule out things.
have you e. g.
- trashed Finale 2014’s Preferences file?
- re-installed Finale 2014?

Thanks Peter!

I should start off by saying that last fall I updated my OS from Mountain Lion to Yosemite (and I was still on Finale 2012). 2012 didn't open up and after reading some boards on the makemusic site, I realized I should upgrade to 2014. I upgraded to 2014 and had the same problem, it would not open. I took it to the Apple store and we decided to put Mountain Lion back on and was running Finale 2014 from Mountain Lion. Now I tried Yosemite once again and am having the same issue with not be able to open Finale 2014.

Here are the steps I've taken:

- Trashed the Finale 2014 file from the applications folder.
- Reinstalled Finale 2014 and the update.

If I understand you correctly, you have not tried trashing the file ‘Finale 2014 Preferences’.
That is the next step I would suggest.

Path to the Finale 2014 Preferences file:
(user account)/Library/Preferences/Finale 2014 Preferences

NB:
By default your user account’s Library folder is hidden.
To get there, open a Finder window, hold down the Option key, and pull down the Go menu.
When you hold down Option, there is a new menu item on the Go menu, namely the Library folder.

Ok....found the 'Finale 2014 Preferences' and trashed them.

Re-installed Finale 2014 after trashing the old preferences. Still same problem.

My guess is that your problem could be hardware specific.
I think it is time to contact the folks in Tech Support at MakeMusic.
They know a lot about hardware specific problems.
