I lost my copy of Printmusic 2007 when my computer died. I've also lost the original CD so I can't get it back, and it's no longer available from Finale. I thought I'd use Musescore in the meantime, as I've used it in the past, but I need to make my scores into a format it can read. I got Notepad 2012 in the hope that I might be able to make XML files with it, but it can't opren my old Printmusic scores. All the support suggests it should be able to open my exisiting printmusic scores but when I try I get a message to say says the files are incompatible. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum.

I can't think of any reason that you should be getting the "incompatible" error. Normally, that shows up when you try to open a newer file with an older version.

You might try downloading the demos of Songwriter 2012 or PrintMusic 2014, and see if they will open the files.

It worked! Thank you so much. You've saved me a lot of angst.
