Speedy Entry switches entries to rests

Hello -
I'm running Finale 2014.5 on Max 10.10.
When entering notes using a keypad and the cursor on speedy entry, the note appears, then when I release the key, it switches to a rest. I have "Use MIDI Device unchecked" and have tried toggling "Insert Notes or Rests." If I hold down the key on the key pad, I can get several notes in, but then the last note entered switches to a rest.
