Hi I have recently brought a Brother HL5200DW monochrome laser printer, however my Finale staves and notes etc print like they are made up of tiny dots. I have just discovered that the printer defaults to printing at 600dpi to increase print speed! So, I have set it to 1200dpi and now look forward to better printouts. If I spend two months preparing a score, I don't mind waiting an extra minute or two for a better printout!

Just thought I'd raise this as others may be unaware of the default setting.

Cheers,
Hector.

Follow-up question:

When printing to PDF, does it "print" at the highest resolution?

Cheers,
HP.

When printing to PDF you get vector graphics.

Vector graphics means that there is no fixed resolution - everything is described via mathematical formulas.
You can scale vector graphics up to any big size - without getting “jaggies”.

And the print resolution will always be the best resolution the printer can yield.
