Has anyone else had the problem of the program quitting (for me when the launching process reaches "initializing floating windows"). I'm on Mac OS X 10.3.9. Started having the problem with 2006 and now with 2006a. Tech support doesn't seem to have an answer and was wondering if anyone else has it. Thanks.

I just switched from a Power Mac 400 to a 1.8 Power Mac G5. On my old computer, I was working on an external hard drive. I used Setup Assistant to transfer all my files and programs to the new computer. When I attempted to launch Finale, the exact same thing happened. When I got to "floating windows," Finale unexpectely quit.
I restarted using the old external hard drive (a La Cie 60GB) to boot my new computer and Finale opened without a problem. Interestingly enough, it asked to rergister again
Since it's the weekend, I haven't talked to Finale Tech support yet. My experience leads me to believe that there's a file (perhaps a hidden file) in the old sysem folder. Both systems on the new computer and the external hard drive are 10.3.9.
Let me know if anyone figures this out.

...and By The Way:
There now is a free 2006b upgrade containing a lot of bug fixes.
It may or may not solve your problem.

Petert,
Thanks for replying. I had already downloaded Finale 2006b. I may try to do it again to see if that helps.
