How do you control the trill note for 2006? It tends to ignore the key signature or the preceding note. :?: :(

In Finale 2006b I'm unable to duplicate your problem.

Are you using the full Finale 2006 or the free NotePad 2006?

Are you entering the trill symbols with the Smart Shape Tool?

Take a look in the window Playback Controls.
What playback style are you using for the Human Playback?

Thanks for the quick responce Peter!
I too have 2006b (Mac) version. I've found out that the problem has something to do with combination of notes. For instance, with one flat in the key signature, I have a two notes chord of Gb and Bb on top. I have a trill marked and for some reason, the playback is always, Bb trill with Cb as a top note. I even have C natural as a preceding note. In the other occasion.
I have, in the Key of G Maj, A natural whole note trill preceded by rather chromatic passage in the previous measure. It always plays Bb as a top note. When I erase the previous measure, it plays B natural trill. (This problem was solved when I entered hidden B natural grace note). I played around with Human playback but results are the same. And yes, tried both smart shape and articulation tool.
Furthermore, is there any way to specifically set the top note of trill because sometimes we need a note that is not in the key signature?
Thanks.

OK, now I can duplicate the problem.

It seems that the trill on the Gb-Bb two-note-chord is interpreted with Bb and Cb when the Gb is in the same layer as the Bb.
It gets even weirder if the Gb is in Voice 2 (try it - I dare you!)

The trill is interpreted correctly with Bb and C when the Gb is in another layer.

This looks like a bug in the Human Playback.
I suggest that you report this to Robert Piechaud so he can get it fixed in the next version of Human Playback.

As for your question about "specifically set the top note of trill":
Take a look in the Smart Shape Tool's Custom Line Tool.
If your document was made from the Default Document, you will find ready made trill lines displaying with flat, sharp and natural respectively.
(to see the Smart Line Selection dialog box, Option-click the Custom Line Tool icon)
