can't open file after installing osx 10.4.4

i can't open my finale files after installing the new osx and upgrading to osx 10.4.4
i'm on finale 2004.r3
the message on the screen is:

while attempting to access "filename" the file manager reported an error.
finale - error ocurred. ID = -8

what's this??????

1. It would help to know what troubleshooting tricks you have tried already.
Did you e. g. repair permissions after the 10.4.4 update?
It's always a good idea to repair remissions after installing an update.

2. From MakeMusic's website you can download a free update to Finale 2004c.
Couldn't hurt.

3. You do have backup copies of your Finale .mus documents, don't you?
It's a good idea to make regular backups to a backup media.
And Finale 2004 can be set up to, whenever you save a Finale .mus document, automatically save a backup copy to a folder you specify.
