Finale has a problem: it can rewrite the UI to attract (and retain) new generations -- who have been raised on iPhones and web-apps and other modern interfaces -- but in doing so it will lose the 'veteran' users who have got 30 years of muscle memory and don't want things to change.
But I largely agree:
But, given MM's track record, it will take them 5 years from now to get where they should have been 10 years ago.
But I largely agree:
- the six-deep nested dialogs need to be replaced by floating palettes, tabbed views, disclosure arrows;
- the dialogs and editors need zoom and resize;
- there are options all over the place (Slurs, anyone?)
- several of the tools are unnecessary (and there should be default key shortcuts for the main tools)
- the MIDI Tool should be interactive, not just passive;
- why isn't there a "Redefine pages" button on the Score Format dialog? and other inefficiencies.
- etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.
But, given MM's track record, it will take them 5 years from now to get where they should have been 10 years ago.
