Which version of Finale are you using?
In Finale 2009 you can delete a measure this way:
Selection Tool.
Double-click the measure.
The measure becomes highlighted, and the highlighting goes about 1/2 "staff height" above and below the measure.
Hit the Delete key.

It's not so simple... simply it doesn't works at least as you have something already edited on the measures you want to delete. So you need first of all to edit something (just one note) and then you can delete using the mentioned key.... but until you discover this you can damn Finale for hours!! Good luck.

You can delete measures without having to edit them.

I figured this out for anyone who needs to perform this deletion in the future. I run 2011 mac. use the selection tool and double click the unwanted measure until the entire column of measures is selected. Then hit delete or go to edit > delete measure stack.
Just to add to jesstoferson's reply. Perhaps this will help explain why the simple method doesn't always work. I noticed that when I tried to select measures I wanted to delete, that the "delete measure stack" option was greyed out - not available. At other times it was available. I'm not sure of the reason for that, but it appeared that I had accidentally selected portions of measures, rather than whole measures only. By selecting them until the "delete measure stack" was available, I was able to delete the measures I wanted. It was frustratingly common to select a range of measures which could not be deleted.

Delete Measure Stack is just that. It only works on complete STACKS of complete MEASURES. Not parts of measures, not parts of stacks. Barline to barline, top to bottom. Select the correct range, and it will always be there.

I'm having the same issue as OP. I'm selecting COMPLETE measures, and stacks of multiple staves. The "delete measure stack" is also greyed out for me and pressing delete doesn't work. I'm guessing I need to find out what's making it greyed out but I can't find anything that is making that happen.
OP, I figured it out. Once you select all measures, you need to double click againso that not only your measures are selected, but all staves and in between them are highlighted blue. Then your "delete measure stack" will work. I know it's literally twelve years too late, but maybe this will help people in the future.
