Hi everyone!
I use Finale 2014.5 for Mac.
Just a quick question: in a score I have several violins. In the abbreviated name I have Violin 1 and Violin 2 etc. automatically. How can I delete the numbers and leave only the abbreviated name of the instruments?
Thanks!
Federico

In the Score Manager, turn off the "auto-number style" checkbox.

Why, oh, why is that on by default?

I suppose it is a matter of principles for, what options should be on by default.

Some different principles:

1. “I do not want Finale do to anything automatically, without asking me.”
Conclusion:
All automatic options should be off by default.

2. “Finale should show new users all the many time saving options the program can offer.”
Conclusion:
All automatic options should be on by default.

3. “Finale should by default do what most of its users would prefer.”
Conclusion:
Options that most users would use, should be on by default.
Options that most users would not use, should be off by default.

My guess is that many options are turned on by default in order to show new users what Finale can do automatically (= principle 2)

Fine. I know what it can do. Thanks for letting me know about it.

I don't want it, I don't need it. Why can't I turn it off for good?
