Creating a Click track

Postby AnthemWorks » Wed Dec 21, 2005 10:03 pm

I'm on Finale '03, PC.
I have a recording project coming up this spring and I would like to use my Finale files to create click-tracks to aid in editing. My plan is to use the piano reduction plug-in, then add a percussion staff for the click. The Piano redux will remain as a scratch play-along track. For the session, the producer will play the .mus file out through headphones to the players.
My question is:
How do I get even ritards and accels? For Example: A 2 bar ritard from 1/4=120 to 1/4=92, or a 4 bar accel form 80 to 112?

AnthemWorks,

It can be done manually, but why bother when you can let a plug-in do the job for you?

Jari Williamson has created a plug-in called JW Tempo.
Take a look at it.
I think that it does exactly what you need.

You can find the plug-in at
http://www.finaletips.nu

I see that JW Tempo has not been kept current past Finale 2003 for Mac and Finale 2005 for Windows, so it is incompatible with current versions. Is there an alternative to this?

My best suggestion is that you take a good look at the new plug-ins on Jari Williamson’s web site.

Jari has lately been very active, and developed new plug-ins that work with the latest Finale versions.
Some of the new plug-ins cover what the old plug-ins could do.

Other new plug-ins can do things the old plug-ins could not do.

You could also ask Jari.

Yes, I've looked there. None of his current Mac plugins reference tempo or click tracks.
