I have Finale 2007. Is it worth buying the latest version and if so, why?

Now would be the time! According to a post on the other forum, an email went out (I didn't get it, either!) that said:

Figures they'd have a sale right after I upgraded.
For me consolidated rests and accidentals in layers was finally enough of a reason to upgrade from 2010b.

At most, the upgrade price direct from MakeMusic is $150. You can purchase direct from their website: no need for a UK Sales Rep.peelbrow22 wrote:$99 sale. BUT ONLY IN THE US! It's about £350 over here in the UK.

If I recall correctly, the price does change a bit as the version from which you wish to upgrade gets older.

It used to, but the "Small upgrade/Large upgrade" has been done away with: it's in MM's interests to get most of the user base onto F25.Michel R E wrote:If I recall correctly, the price does change a bit as the version from which you wish to upgrade gets older.

I still have some music in Finale 2005 format and I've kept that program around in case I want to make small adjustments; the latest Finale can open them, and it's mostly fine, but one needs to carefully check for small problems, so it's easier for me to use Finale 2005 for such things than to check a big piece. If I make major changes, then I convert it to the .musx format and use F2014.5 (my computer is 32-bit, so I can't upgrade to F25 until I get a new one). But the point I want to make is that every time I do use Finale 2005, it's striking how much better and easier to use Finale is now, so I suspect it will be worth your while to upgrade.
