multi-measure rests problem

Postby crig » Sat Mar 17, 2007 11:19 pm

Before I can create MM rests with the measure tool I have to highlight
the measures with the mass edit tool and then hit backspace. Any ideas why? Thank you!

multi-measure rests problem

Because the Measure Tool won't create multimeasure rests unless the measures are empty.

By The Way: the Measure Tool also won't create multimeasure rests unless the measures don't contain Alternate Notation (e. g. Blank Notation, Slash Notation, Rhythmic Notation, One-Bar Repeat)

If you need the multimeasure rest to contain entries or Alternate Notation, you can add entries/Alternate Notation from Scroll View after the multimeasure rest has been created.

The measures ARE empty but I still have to use the mass edit tool first.
Thanks

It depends on what the meaning of "empty" is. If you've replaced the default whole rest with a "real" whole rest, then the measure is no longer empty. When you <-- in Mass Edit, that makes the "real" rest go away.

Multi measure rests

Postby davea23 » Tue Mar 20, 2007 2:32 pm

I anm using Finale 2007c and I'm having similar problems. "Create multi measure rests" doesn't work and I'm having to create them in each individual extracted part. The option is set in all the appropriate places and all measures are empty i.e. they only contain the default whole note rest. I recently got a brand new computer running Windows Vista and this has introduced a whole set of problems and incomopatibilities. All ideas welcome
