I don't have an answer for this, but here is what I know. There were some internal errors in Encore which cause some problems when importing to Finale. Usually these cause the files to not be able to convert at all (unless you happen to have the very first version of Finale 2000), but I suppose it's possible that these errors could cause certain elements to not convert. The problem was particularly pronounced when files were created in Encore versions earlier than 4.2 and then saved in 4.2.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure whether or not chords convert or not with the translator. I know that Rhapsody files do convert with the chords, so my guess is that the Encore files should as well.

Can you create another document in Encore 4.1 with chords, save it, and import it into Finale?

If you haven't found an answer to your question yet, go ahead and e-mail me. I can do some research and try to come up with an answer for you.
