Greetings from a new user, and many thanks to the vetrans who field these newbie questions.

After reading some of the manual and watching a few of the quick start videos, I decided to see what I could learn by entering a score or two using the mouse and keyboard. It wasn't long before I needed to insert a rest.

Rest is not mentioned on any of the menus that I've seen. I have seen no Rest Tool. When I searched for it in the on-line help nothing came up. Rest is not in the index of the manual.

I accidently discovered that I could turn a note into an equal valued rest by clicking on it. That got me past the immediate block, but I wonder if that's all there is, or if there's a whole discussion of it somewhere that I haven't found.

Why, for heaven's sake, in a program as mature as this, is there no mention of such a fundamental musical object? Is there a different term for this concept in Finale? Have I missed something major?

Regards and many thanks again,
Fred

I'm using Finale 2001d on Windows 2000.
