Message:The sooner you start using Speedy Entry the better. If you have a MIDI keyboard it's especially great, but even without one, you'll save a lot of time. In Speedy Entry you can turn a note into a rest with the backspace key. Ctrl+Shift+a number would add a rest directly, however most people seem to prefer to just enter a note and then press backspace. If you use a MIDI keyboard, then simply pressing the rhythm value without holding down a note will give you your rest. One of the best ways to learn the program is to go through tutorial book that came with the program. It speaks of rests early on.
