Paul,

Your question is a bit vague. Why would you want to switch individual notes to another layer? Imaging what would happen:

Let’s say that you have 4/4 time with a measure containing 4 quarters: D, E, F, G in Layer 1. If you switch the third quarter (F) to Layer 2, you will have:

In Layer 1: D, E, G on the beats 1, 2, 3 – and nothing on beat 4.
In Layer 2: F on beat 1 – and nothing on beats 2, 3, 4.

In Other Words: The D and the F will be sounding together on beat 1.

Is this what you want? Please explain.
