Re: Help with an unusal pick-up note!!
Message:Brian,I suggest that you never create a pickup with an incomplete tuplet. Instead, create a pickup with a complete tuplet that begins with rests, e. g. a 16th note sixtuplet consisting of a dotted 8th rest, an 8th rest, and a 16th note. The musicians can easily understand this notation, and playback will be correct. However, it IS possible to create a pickup consisting of only one sixtuplet 16th: 1. Speedy entry menu > Speedy Options... Turn off "Fill with Rests when Leaving Measure". Click OK. 2. Click the first measure to make the Speedy Entry rectangle appear. 3. Hit the Tuplet Definition keyboard shortcut (Windows: Ctrl-1; Macintosh: Option-1). Define the tuplet as "6 sixteenths in the space of 4 sixteenths". Click OK. 4. Hit 3 to enter a 16th. Hit 0 (zero) to exit the Speedy Entry rectangle. 5. Options menu > Document Settings > Set Pickups... 6. A quarter is 1024 EDUs, so a sixtuplet 16th is 1024:6 EDUs = 171 EDUs. Therefore: Type 171, and click OK. Peter
