Message:Try creating the new document by: File/New/New Document with Setup Wizard. That gives you an option of specifying a pickup measure. If that doesn't work, you can use Mass Mover but make sure that you click the "Partial Measures On/Off" button. You can then move the music by parts of a beat. It might help to put real rests in the pickup bar using Speedy Entry so that you have 3 quarters and four eighths as rests so that you can move the music over the second of the three eighths. The change to 7/8 is easy. Go to the measure that is 7/8 and use the Time Signature Tool. You can specify a region and Finale moves any extra beats to the next measure, which will, I guess, be exactly what you want. Pete
