Scanning is a bit of a black art. I haven't ever found it reliable enough to save me any time at all. Also, it can't cope with lyrics, expressions, articulations etc. You'll do better to use Speedy Input with a Midi Keyboard or, if you can play accurately enough, use Hiperscribe.

You may be able to find the lyrics on the web somewhere, which will save you having to type them in. Use the Lyric Tool and select Edit Lyrics, where you can paste the text in (but only using Control-v).
