1. Click the Staff Tool. Double-click the staff. The Staff Attributes dialog box appears. You can skip step 2, if you don't intend to save/print the alto sax version of the part.
2. Set the Full Name (e. g. Alto Saxophone) and the Abbr. Name (e. g. A. S.) for the staff.
3. Next to the check box "Transposition" there is a "Select..." button. Click the button. The Staff Transpositions dialog box appears.
4. In the Key Signature pop up menu select "(Eb) Up M6, Add 3 sharps".
5. Hit Return twice to return to the score.
6. You might like to go to the Options menu and turn on "Display in Concert Pitch" in order to see the music in its untransposed (concert pitch) form.
7. To set the key signature, click the Key Signature Tool, and double-click the first measure. The Key Signature dialog box appears.Note that the Key Signature dialog box always displays the key signature in concert pitch.
If, e. g., the transposed form should display 2 sharps, the Key Signature dialog box should display 1 flat.
8. To transpose the finished alto sax part to Bb clarinet, repeat steps 1-5, but this time set the full staff name and the abbr. staff name to e. g. "Bb Clarinet" and "Bb Cl." In step 4, select "(Bb) Up M2, Add 2 sharps".
