Message: I do most of my stuff for corps, and I find that my Sound Blaster 32 sounds great although if I send the file to someone who has a lesser sound card, that the sounds are rather poor. They come out in different octaves with totally different tonal properties. I find that the electric snare sounds great on the Sound Blaster. Perhaps if you invest in a quality sound card rather than the built-in card that came with your machine you would have better luck. I use Synth drum setting for bass and also for tenors although the instrument next ot it on the list is also good but I forget which one it is. I put the tenors up an octave. Treble clef works for them both, just transpose the tenors up in concert pitch so that they print out like you expect them to.
