Message:Pickup measures can be created in two ways. 1. One way is to insert invisible rests - "placeholders" - before the pickup notes. The "placeholder rests" will not get any spacing when you apply music spacing. This is the way a pickup measure is created when you go to Options menu > Document Settings > Set Pickups... You can also create such pickup measures anywhere in the score with the Mirror Tool. Just enter the pickup notes, switch to Mirror Tool, and click the measure. A placeholder dialog box will appear, allowing you to specify the value of the "placeholders", e. g. 63 64ths. Playback will also play these invisible "placeholder rests" before the pickup, so playback will not be fully correct. If the score contains more than one staff, you can insert the "placeholder rests" only in some of the staves belonging to that measure.2. Another way is to set a display Time Signature different from the real Time Signature. If you e. g. need a one quarter pickup in 4/4 time, set the display Time Signature for that pickup measure to 4/4, and set the measure's real Time signature to 1/4. When pickups are created this way, playback will be fully correct. I hope that this is clear. If not, ask again. Peter
