Marcus,

In order to make the notation easy to understand I recommend that you notate the middle triplet quarter as two 8ths tied together. This means that the barline will go between the two 8ths.

There are several solutions to your problem. I will describe the most common solution. It will work provided that the triplet doesn't occur at a system break.

The general solution for beaming across barlines is to have "too many notes" in the first measure. In this particular case you will have a total duration of 5 quarters in the first measure. For correct spacing in the second measure you let it begin with a hidden quarter rest that will serve as a "placeholder" for music spacing.

1. Speedy Entry Tool. In the Speedy menu, turn off "Jump To Next Measure" and "Check for Extra Notes".
2. In the first measure, enter the notes, including the triplet. You can beam the two 8ths together with the / key. Hit the ] key to go to the next measure.
4. Enter a quarter rest, and hide it with the letter "O" key. Enter the remaining 3 quarters.
5. After having applied Music Spacing you might want to avoid collision between the triplet 8ths and the barline. You can move individual notes by dragging them in the Speedy Entry rectangle. Hold down Shift while dragging in order to avoid that the note is moved up or down.
6. When you have finished, you might like to turn on "Jump To Next Measure" and "Check for Extra Notes" again.
