If I'm understanding what you want, this is really simple. Assuming that you are not using an open score, and wish to copy an SATB tune, it would go something like this:

1. Click on the staff tool; drop down the staff selection listing and choose "new staff." When it asks you how many, enter 4.

2. Highlight the treble clef (SA) with the mass mover, then ctrl-shift-click on the first bar of what would now be line 3. (BTW, all of the new staves should have a treble clef by default.)
Edit this new staff by going in and "erasing" the alto notes.

3. Repeat the above procedure for note entry on line 4, editing out the soprano notes.

4. Use the same procedure for lines 5 & 6 (tenor & bass lines). If it will make it any easier, you can go to your staff tool, drop down the menu selections to edit staff attributes, and choose a bass clef for each of these lines.

5. Now that the lines are split out and on seperate staves, you have an incredible amount of flexibility available. Using the "edit staff attributes" function allows you to make transpositions with a single click.

I don't know what your instrumentation is, but it could be assigned like this:

Soprano - Trumpet (transpose up M2)
Alto - Alto Sax (transpose up M6)
Tenor - French Horn (transpose up P5)
Bass - Trombone (no transposition necessary)
