Carl, To play back percussion rolls: Finale does not recognize rolls as written in music scores. Therefore they must be written on another staff as a 32nd note. Example: five stroke roll is written for Finale as four 32nd notes and one eighth note. Finale will then play back the roll as it would normally sound. There are a number of things that must be done to play back without distorted sound, but if you want to hear playback correctly you have no choice.
