Re: what sort of hardware do i need to use finale
Message:It depends on what you expect Finale to do for you. If you just want to notate music and print it out, you'll need a printer and a computer. If you'd like to input music from a keyboard, you'll need a MIDI keyboard and, depending on the keyboard, you may or may not need a MIDI interface for your PC. If you'd like to play your work back with all the instrumentation sounding right, you'll need sound modules which come in many many types. You might consider trying a MIDI internet board and just read through it to gather general information about MIDI. A starter might be:https://tremolo.harmony-central.com/HyperNews/get/MIDI.html?embed=-1 Good luck. If this isn't helpful enough, just ask more specific questions. I do a bit of orchestral writing and have one little box called a Proteus 2000 that will play up to 32 different voices using up to 128 notes at a time. It's a bit expensive, but it gives me the sound of an entire symphony orchestra. Oh yes, when you look for MIDI gear, you might try Caruso Music in New London Conn. Can't remember their URL right off hand, but they respond to email quickly and are most helpful on answering general questions. Their web page lists a toll free number too. Goood Luck! Art
