Finale has the wonderful ability to place notes in a truly stupid manner. One way to dealwith it is enter all the pitches, accidentals, etc; don't worry how it looks I know it looks awful. When you've finished entering the pitches, highlight everything using the mass mover tool. Under the mass edit menu, go to music spacing: there you can chose from a number of different options of how to space the music. You can further tweak this by using the special tools palette: click on the flat icon, then click whatever note/accidental needs to be moved - a handle will appear and you'll be able to manually adjust it. Once you've done it a few times, it really works quite well. I know there are some precise defaults you can set up in advance to avoid much of this, but that is beyond my present ability - sorry. This actually works pretty well, if you ignore how poorly the music looks until you adjust it. Good luck.Yours,Ron PearlFine ArtsLoyola College
