Charlie,

Does a chord symbol appear when you enter a chord via MIDI input? Did you save your new chord suffixes to a library that is loaded into your template? Have you inadvertently changed your MIDI setup or chord entry method? My guess is that in the process of creating your new symbols, you probably changed one of these (or another) setting that is causing your problem. Try typing a chord into your score (you will have to select "Type into Score" from the chord menu) and see if you get any results. If you do, the chord suffixes are there and the problem is more than likely somewhere in the MIDI setup or in the way you defined your chords for MIDI entry.

I don't know if Finale has a limit to the number of chord symbols and I have never counted the symbols in my own jazz chord library, but I would guess that I have about 40 or 50 chord suffix definitions in it and have had no problems (Mac OS 9.0.4, GS, F2K1).

Good luck.

Jim Coull
