dissappearing chord symbols

When I'm in scroll view, I enter a chord symbol and can see it.
If I scroll forward (or re-draw for that matter) when I return the chord symbol has dissappeared. If I click where I inputed the chord the box appears, but no symbol. If I double click the box, the symbol comes back up, but dissappears again when I scroll again. I'm using 2000 with the Jazz font. This is driving me insane! Can you folks help me?
