This takes a bit of doing, but once you master it, you will have templates of your work available at any time! Here we go..
Select EXPRESSION TOOL in the MAIN TOOL PALETTE.
Double left click area of measure where tempo shall be changed. You will see the dialogue box for Expression Selection.
Click CREATE. Click ASSIGN TEMPO. Check the box ASSIGN TEMPO. Enter the values for desired tempo. (ex: dotted quarter=120)
The next step is a little more involved. You must now SET FONT. It would be a good idea to print out a metronome marking chart for
your future reference from your HELP INDEX. Go to Metronome markings.
There you will find a chart that gives you the proper conversions for each metronome marking. These will be inserted into your score and will playback your desired tempo markings in both Finale and
in MIDI. It is worth the effort!
