I use a Mac so this might not work for you, but here goes: First, give your program about 40m to run in, then, set up a RamDisk, if this is possible on a PC, of about 15m. The problem is the temporary files that are slow to be recovered when they're stored on a hard drive. Putting them on a Ram Disk really speeds things up.

My work is operatic, meaning that I used 32 staffs in units of about 500 measures and it goes like blue blazes when set up as above.
