As long as the Mac user remembers to end the document name with .mus there usually are no problems with opening it in Windows Finale.

But how did you transfer the .mus document to the computer with Finale 2002b? If you sent it as e-mail attachment, the mail program might have encoded/compressed the document. And it should be decoded/decompressed before Finale 2002b can read it.

One thing more to try:
When you have decoded/decompressed the file, try opening the file from inside Finale: Launch Finale, and go to File menu > Open...
